Tazewell County Jail Roster

The Tazewell County, Illinois jail roster is a public tool that allows you to check who is currently in custody at the county jail. Public information about current and recently released inmates can be found on the TazewellCourt.us website. Additional data is available through the official website of the Tazewell County Sheriff, by calling the dispatch service, or by visiting the jail in person. The roster is maintained by the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office and is updated as new records of intake and release of detainees are received. This resource ensures transparency in law enforcement operations and allows citizens to verify the custody status of a specific individual.

Search Current Inmates in Tazewell Jail

There are several ways to find out if a specific person is in custody at the county jail.

Online Search

  1. Go to the Inmate Lookup — Custody page on the Tazewell County Sheriff's website.
  2. The page displays a table of all individuals currently in custody. Each entry includes the date and time of intake, booking number, last name, first name, age, gender, charges, and arresting agency.
  3. To find a specific person, use the search function in your browser (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F) and enter the last name in Latin script.

You will need the person's full legal last name for the search. A booking number will expedite the search if you know it. You can also search for publicly available court information related to detainees through TazewellCourt.us.

In addition to the custody roster, the sheriff publishes a separate list of active arrest warrants.

Juvenile offenders are not displayed in the public roster.

Find Tazewell Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created at the moment a detained person is officially admitted to jail. This is a standard procedure during which personal data, circumstances of detention, and charges are recorded.

A typical record includes:

  • Unique booking number
  • Date and time of intake
  • Last name, first name, and middle initial of the detainee
  • Age, race, and gender
  • Description of charges (e.g., DUI, theft, probation violation)
  • Name of the arresting agency — this could be Pekin Police, Morton Police, Illinois State Police, or the Sheriff's Office itself

This data is available on the inmate lookup page in table format. Each row is a separate booking record.

If you need more detailed information than what is displayed in the online roster, you have the right to file a request for public records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The Tazewell County Sheriff's Office accepts such requests — instructions are posted on the FOIA Requests page. Some records may be restricted from access — for example, materials related to juveniles or open investigations.

For individuals transferred to state correctional facilities, a search is available through the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) search system.

Search the Tazewell Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The Tazewell County online roster displays all detainees in a single table. The two most effective ways to find the person you need:

Search by Last Name

Open the table on the Inmate Lookup — Custody page and press Ctrl+F (Windows) or Cmd+F (Mac). Enter the person's last name. Important: the last name must be written in Latin script exactly as it was entered during booking.

Some tips:

  • If you're unsure of the correct spelling, try entering just the first few letters of the last name
  • The system does not have a separate search field — all filtering is done through the browser
  • Double last names or hyphenated last names may be recorded differently

Search by Booking Number

Each record is assigned a six-digit number. If you know this number, enter it into the browser's search function — this is the quickest way to find a specific record.

What to Do if the Search Yields No Results

The absence of a name in the roster can mean various things. The person may have already been released, transferred to another facility, or the data has not yet been entered after detention. Call the dispatch at (309) 346-4141 to clarify the status. To check for state correctional facilities, use the IDOC search.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Tazewell

The roster on the Tazewell County Sheriff's website is updated throughout the business day as new records of intake and release are processed. This is not a real-time system — there may be a delay of several hours to a day between the actual detention and the appearance of the record in the online table.

Main limitations to be aware of:

  • Publication delay. If an arrest occurs late at night or on weekends, the record may only appear the next business day
  • Disappearance of records after release. The roster only displays those currently in custody. After release or transfer, the record is removed from the table
  • This is not an archive. The page does not store the history of all past bookings. To obtain archival data, you must submit a FOIA request to the Sheriff's Office
  • Input errors. Sometimes last names are entered with errors or in abbreviated form, complicating the search

For statewide criminal history information, you can contact the Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification. Tazewell County court records are now available not through Judici, but through a new system — the relevant link is posted on the Tazewell County Courts page.
